As we have just passed one month since LA City Mayor Eric Garcetti and California Gov. Gavin Newsom enacted their “Safer at Home” orders, we’ve received questions from both existing and prospective clients about how this may affect their probate cases.

Ultimately, there have not been any notable changes in operations by the LA county court’s probate division. While courts throughout the county (and most of the state) are not open to the public, employees continue to process filings. Probate hearings are also still being held via CourtCall, a service which allows attorneys to essentially ‘call’ into the courtroom to remotely attend hearings on behalf of their clients.

These court closures have had no effect on our open probate cases, and our office has been able to initiate new cases and prepare for hearings with no issue. We are continuing to accept new probate clients at this time.

As our attorney and staff is working remotely, we appreciate your patience in returning your calls. We recommend completing our website inquiry form or emailing our office manager, Shira (Shira@BrittonLawGroup.com) directly so a time can be scheduled for you to speak directly with our attorney, Brittany. Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented time.

As a California Essential Business, we’re taking all precautions necessary to preserve the health and safety of our clients. For a more detailed update on Britton Law Group’s operations under the “Safer at Home” orders, please read our official update here.
