One of the great things about having an estate plan is that it enables you to make choices about where your assets will go after you pass. Putting a bequest in your estate plan is a great way to support a cause you care about. Most philanthropies and nonprofit institutions have someone who handles bequests—often called ‘planned’, ‘estate’, or ‘legacy’ giving—within their development or fundraising department. Your estate planning attorney can communicate with that development officer on your behalf to plan a bequest and make sure your money is put to the greatest use.

Yesterday was Memorial Day and today marks the start of LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Mindful of the bravery of soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the military and the courage of LGBTQ people who live out and authentic lives, below are links to the planned giving pages for Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. These two organizations support and uplift these communities. Of course, you don’t have to wait until you pass to show your support.
